About me
Thanks for stopping by!
I’ve always loved photography. I remember my very first camera – a Kodak 110. And I remember looking at my dad’s huge Nikon 35mm camera and lenses thinking, “I can’t imagine knowing how to use all those things”, and now here I am going head-to-head with dad (although still learning lots from him!).
Our lives are comprised of a series of moments stitched together, and photography allows us to freeze a moment before it passes. Although at a younger age I thought my photography would be limited to travel, I discovered how much I LOVE taking photos of people. Capturing a person at a certain moment, making a particular expression, is sort of magical. The moment passes immediately, and every expression is unique. While I could take pictures of the Eiffel Tower until the cows come home, at the end of the day, the Eiffel Tower is still the Eiffel Tower, and while it’s a beautiful, massive, amazing, and extremely photogenic structure, it doesn’t exude emotion the way a person does. It doesn’t laugh the way a 2 year-old child does. It doesn’t give a loving look to a new bride, and it certainly doesn’t shed a tear the way a father does as he gives away his daughter to her new husband.
This is why I take pictures. I love that I get a rush when I capture a moment that my client doesn’t see until they see their proofs. It brings a tear to my eye when my client tells me a photo I took made her cry. I could go on and on about all the reasons I love being a photographer, but what is most rewarding is when a client, if they aren’t already my friend, becomes my friend.
